How The Bling Thing Started

Back in the day, when we first started promoting the book, we were both into essential oils (because isn’t that a suburban mom thing to do?). We drove all the way out to a convention in Utah with my (Carleen) car, Lil’ Blue, stuffed to the gills with a ridiculous number of books (that hardworking girl needed a brake job soon thereafter) (that mountain driving made our feet sweat).

A couple years previous, my sister and I had decorated mason jars for my wedding that were super cute. Lisa and I decided that everyone’s oil diffusers needed some bling, just like my jars! Since we were fresh from our IndieGoGo promotion for the book, we thought this would be a cool perk to offer our customers. Thus began our foray into bling!

People asked us if they were necklaces. We said, not really, but we could make those! So we did.

Then people said, do you have earrings? We said, no, but we could make those! So we did.

Now if you come to visit our booth at farmers’ markets and art/craft fairs, you’ll see we’ve expanded our lines quite a bit since then. 🙂

What We’re Doing Now and Why

We discovered that making jewelry is incredibly healing. Even better are the opportunities we get to connect one-on-one with the incredible people who stop by our booth. We love every single one of you, and we are grateful that you have shared a little bit of yourselves with us and supported our small business all these years. You are why we do what we do—you are the frosting on our cake!

We offer our products for reasonable prices because we want you to be able to add some zing to your life without breaking the bank. In these times when everything is so expensive, it’s our gift to you for being so good to us. To be honest, we have SO MANY BEADS between the two of us, we could keep making things for months and still have enough. 🙂

A Bit About Our Style: REMix

We love visiting antique stores, vintage stores, and thrift stores to find unique jewelry we can take apart and mix the parts together into completely new designs that you can’t buy at your local big box store or Amazon.

We love that they are one-of-a-kind (we used to even name them, we loved them so much). We also love that the jewelry we find was important to someone, sometime, and we know stories live in them.

Sometimes pieces are completely vintage; sometimes we mix old materials with new. Of course, some things (like most of our earrings) are made of all new materials, but we REMix whenever we can. We call it…alchemy.

We get goosebumps when the perfect person finds the perfect piece. It might be the first day we put it out on the table, or it could be a year or two later. We never know. But that’s the fun of it! 🙂
